We all love to travel, to new places, new cities in cars, buses, caravans, by air, by the sea but I have travelled everyday since I was ten through books. I have let the ocean kiss my feet on the Coast of Ipanema and nosed around in Calgary and my travel expenses have never been more than the price of a McDonald Cheese Burger. Here's my travelogue where books can be found through the countries they have taken me to. The reviews are not professional and definitely not worth putting into a book review assignment for school! They are just a string of words that tell you what I felt when I travelled to a certain place. If it suits you, you go and book yourself a trip. If not, well...we'll keep it there!

To Kill A MockingbirdTo Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Well, there was one thing about this book that I absolutely loathed...and that is, it came to an end! A story as marvelous as
'To Kill A Mockingbird' is a masterpiece that is written once in a century and is meant to be cherished by posterity until Doomsday!
Never before have I come across a book which touches every aspect of human society and leaves an indelible imprint on everything it talks about.

From rumors to social stigmas, from being obstinate to standing up against the whole world for what is right, from being a kid to growing up and out of your inhibitions this book is an ultimate and timeless classics where each character is unique, original and yet, close to reality.

The language is beautiful. In fact, I shall credit the author with creating poetry in prose for even the descriptions are so lovely that even if she digresses from the main topic, the reader doesn't lose touch with what's going on (you can tell where Ms. Rowling got it from). Scout and Jem's world, though full of adventures, old ways of life and Boo Radleys, is no different from what our world was when we were eight-years-old. A reader grows with the book. With every reading, his point of view changes and just like Scout, (s)he realises that people are not always as bad as they seem. The world is full of Boo Radleys and not all of them hide in a shack. Some stare us in the eye only we are too 'thick' to notice! It is ignorance that leads us to prejudice. Once we know things, we are full of light!

Through the subtle gaze of a child, Harper Lee gives us a glimpse into a world which is too simple and is made too complex by man. A must read and a great re-read!

Hmmm...I guess I finally have to snatch it from 'The Book Thief' and give away the crown of 'THE BEST BOOK I'VE EVER READ' to 'To Kill A Mockingbird'...a book meant for all those who have "never stood in anyone else's shoes"!
