Ah, finally! It took me forever to finish this book and I have to admit that though neither exceptionally long, nor tedious, this book is quite a lot to chew and digest. The storyline is vague and I did find it a little bit stretched but the redeeming factor is the beautiful philosophy Milan Kundera comes up with.
There are parts of the book that seem to have been written exclusively for you and then there are some that seem like things you grow up thinking, imagining and believing in but never really wrote down or spoke out loud!
Milan Kundera cannot be called one of the best storytellers of our age but he certainly can be called one of the most amazing and thought provoking philosophers of our day. In his books, he combines different forms of stories like, historical incidents, personal anecdotes, fables and fairtytales and creates something fantastic and different, even though he does sound slightly absurd at times, and gets a little carried away with the narrative.
Despite that, you cannot deny his stories their literary merit for they have the power of touching you, influencing you and shaping your thoughts in a way no other story ever has before!
